Lyney is the first limited character from Fontaine in Genshin Impact. With his release, Lyney introduce new mechanics for many upcoming Fountaine character: decrease and increase HP to gain buff for attack increase.
In Lyney case, avery time he performs a Charged Attack Lv.2, if he have more than 60% HP, then his HP will be reduced. If HP reduction happen, Lyney will gain 1 Prop Surplus Stack, with a maximum of 5 stacks.
Prop Surplus Stack can also be obtained when Lyney use his Elemental Burst. So, there are two ways to accumulate stacks: through Charged Attacks and Elemental Burst.
This manipulation of HP, both reduction and restoration, seems to be a new mechanics for upcoming Fontaine characters and weapons. This mechanics is important because it is closely related to each character’s passive talents and even the requirements of the new 4-piece Marechaussee Hunter artifact set.

Weapons
The First Great Magic is Lyney signature weapon and definitely the best for him. With buff complimenting his role as dps especiallty in Mono Pyro team. Other 5 star is also can be used as alternative.
For 4 star options, we have free 2 play friendly Song of Stillness from forging. Easy to craft and max refinement as long as you have required bow billet.
Lyney Best Artifact
Marechaussee Hunter is new artifact in Fountaine, tailor made for Normal/Charged attack oriented character with increase/decrease HP mechanics like Lyney.
4 Marechaussee Hunter | (2) Normal and Charged Attack DMG +15%. (4) When current HP increases or decreases, CRIT Rate will be increased by 12% for 5s. Max 3 stacks. |
Of course, you can also using Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, Lava Walker, Crimson Witch of Flames, or other relevant artifact set but it won’t be as good as 4 Marechaussee Hunter.
So I suggest to focus on this one artifact if you want to play Lyney for a long term.

Team for Lyney? Mono Pyro!
Unlike other Pyro DPS characters, Lyney benefits more from playing in a Mono Pyro team rather than utilizing elemental reactions like Vaporize or Melt.
This is due to his passive talent (Conclusive Ovation) that significantly increases damage when attacking enemies with a Pyro aura. This talent also provides additional damage buffs based on the number of Pyro characters in the team, solidifying this playstyle.
Lyney mono pyro team format usually consisting of 3 Pyro including Lyney and 1 anemo with viridiscent venerer for shred or other utility like shield. Here’s an example:
Although Lyney doesn’t outright restrict the use of characters with specific elements in his team like Nilou, the performance difference is truly felt when playing in her optimal composition, Mono Pyro, compared to more commonly used team compositions.
